PVA BOND
Multi-purpose P.V.A, Sealer, primer, adhesive, bonding agent, cement mortar admixture.
Description :
Multi useful premium P.V.A resin emulsion, quick drying, adhesive, excellent adhesion to porous surfaces, providing high
sealing and bonding properties.
Limitation
Meister P.V.A bond :
1. Not recommended to use as bonding agent in areas subjected to water or continuously wet, but in this case we
recommend by our product Meister SBR bond.
2. Meister P.V.A bond will bond most of common construction materials except P.V.C, rubber, poly ethylene to themselves
and to each other .
3. Not recommended for metal bonding.
4. Can be use in shaded areas in temperature from (4 -40 C°).
USES :
1. Multi-purpose adhesive.
2. Bonding agent.
3. An admixture in cement mortar, granolithic screeds.
4. Sealing, primer before self leveling compounds.
Advantages :
1. Numerouse uses in construction, one product.
2. Economical, easy to apply.
3. Chloride free.
4. Non toxic, eco friendly.
5. Dust proof, sealer.
6. Out standing adhesive properties.
7. Improves both physical &mechanical properties for cement mortar.
8. Decrease permeability for cement mortar.
Standard compliance :
It comply with BS 5270.
Technical properties :
Instruction for use :
Surface preparation
Substrates must be clean, sound, dry, free from dust ,grease or any contaminants, that may hinder adhesion.
Application :
Stir well before using.
1. General adhesion :
Meister P.V.A bond can be bond wood, carpet, bricks, glass, polystyrene, render, tiles, laminated plastic.
On smooth, flat surface coat both faces with Meister P.V.A bond diluted with one equal part of water. Allow to become tacky
then press together.
In case of bonding smooth wood to wood apply in thin coat of pure Meister P.V.A bond to one face only, then press together
firmly.
On large areas, such as laminated plastic install tightly may be required till the bond is set (usually after 24 hours, depending
on the surface porosity).
Important guide for dilution rate of Meister P.V.A bond according to the application type and degree of surface porosity.
2. Bonding agent for tiles :
Ceramic, quarry, terrazzo tiles can be seal with solution of 1 part Meister P.V.A bond 5 part clean water by using brush or
spray, then let the surface till complete dry.
Before applying of cement based tile adhesive to increase the bonding strength dilute 1part Meister P.V.A bond, 3 part of
clean water, wait till the surface becomes tacky or wet, apply the cement based tile adhesive immediately.
3. Bonding agent for plasters :
In case of gypsum, light weight gypsum, dilute 1 part Meister P.V.A bond, 1 part of water to seal, then let the surface till
becomes tacky or wet, then apply the plaster by the normal method.
4. Bonding new concrete to old:
Sealing process : After preparing the surface as recommended, can be use solution of 1 part of Meister P.V.A bond : 3-5
parts of water according to the degree of the surface porosity like which recommended in the table, allow to dry.
Bonding process : by using solution of 1 part of Meister P.V.A bond : 1 part clean water, lay the new concrete while this coat
is still tacky to ensure maximum bond strength add 2.5 – 5 lit. of Meister P.V.A bond for each 50 kg of cement.
5. Bonding agent cement based plaster, render, screed :
Prepare the surface as a recommended before.
Sealing coat : use the guide table to get sealing dilution according to the surface porosity degree. Let it to dry.
Bonding coat : dilute 1 part of Meister P.V.A bond : 2 parts of water (at high surface porosity ) or 1:1 (at less / non porous).
Then cure cementitious concrete and renders properly.
6. Concrete repairs :
Sealing coat : mix 1 : 1 Meister P.V.A : clean water, then apply the coat till becomes tacky.
Add this mix to the tacky coat : (1part Portland cement : 2 part fine aggregates or sand like which used in the concrete : 1 part
Meister P.V.A bond : 3 parts clean water) after properly mixing.
Compact properly, and level out .
7. Surface sealing coat for granolithic subfloors :
Sealing coat at high porous surface : apply 2 coats as the following :
Fast coat : mix 1 part Meister P.V.A bond : 5 parts clean water.
Final coat : mix 1 part Meister P.V.A bond : 3 parts clean water.
Note : allow each coat to dry before proceeding .
Sealing coat at less porous floors : the fast coat can be neglected.
8. An admixture in cement / sand & granolithic screeds :
In cement / sand screeds for light traffic :use mix of :
1 part Portland cement :3 part sand : 20 liter Meister P.V.A bond per each 100kg of Portland cement.
In case of industrial floors finish or heavy traffic :use mix of :
1 part Portland cement : 1 part sand :3-6 parts of granite aggregates (3-4)mm: 25-30 lit. of Meister P.V.A bond per 100Kg
of Portland cement.
Prepare the surface as a recommended, then seal it according to degree of porosity as we recommended in the preceding
paragraph (7 paragraph).
Then mix the mortar manually or by machine to semi –dry consistency, don’t mix the mortar to wet because an addition of
Meister P.V.A bond will reduce the amount of water needed to achieve high workability.
Lay the screed on the tacky bonding coat, tamping well to ensure maximum contact with the floor beneath.
Setting time in case of cement / sand screed is 36 – 48 hours.
Setting time in case of granolithic screeds is 24-36 hours.
Allow 3-7 days before opening to traffic.
This is in normal temperature conditions, but in low temperature longer may be required.
9. Prmier for self leveling flooring :
After preparing the surface, then apply primer (sealing coat) by dilute 1 part of Meister P.V.A bond : 2 part of clean water.
Then lay self leveling mortar while the coat still tacky.
10. To repair natural or reconstructed stone :
After preparing the surface mix the following :
1 part of Portland cement : 5 parts of the original aggregates : 1 part of Meister P.V.A bond : 2 part of clean water
A good compact is recommend through the normal method apply.
Repairs of natural or reconstructed stone usually not require high strength, but may required a good selective to suitable
pigments.
11. As an admixture
Meister P.V.A bond can be add at the range of (20-30) liter per 100Kg of Portland cement, means 100-150 lit. per cubic
meter of mortar .
Meister P.V.A bond coverage :
These guide is theoretical, can be change according to the surface porosity.
Cleaning :
Clean all used tolls immediately by water.
Flammable :
Meister P.V.A bond water based emulsion non flammable.
Packaging :
5 &20 &200 liter drums.
Shelf life :
12 months in dry place, in the original and non opened packs.
Health and safety :
Gloves and goggles should be worn during application. Splashes to eyes or skin washed with clean water immediately.
Seek a medical advice in case of prolonged irritation occur.
